Never Know What You Got Til It’s Gone

Today, as we drove through what’s left of Joplin, MO, I couldn’t help but feel an eerie chill even in the midst of blistering 110 degree weather. Tens of thousands of people are still trying to recover from the devastation left by the tornado in May. The remains of houses, hospitals, schools, and stores line the side of the road in dusty heaps of rubble. I can’t even begin to imagine what it feels like to lose everything. When you see this kind of loss, it makes you think about what really matters. It makes you really appreciate what you have and realize that everything else is extra. And a huge plus.

So my brother and I are here for the rest of the week leading relief volunteers in worship and wrapping up Saturday with a stripped down concert. During the day, we’re hitting the streets, rolling up our sleeves and helping people who really need it. There’s so much still to be done so keep the city of Joplin in your thoughts and prayers!
